im new to this forum and im in desperate need for some help. My situation is that i wanted to transfer my saved games data from my old 60gb xbox to the new 250gb 360 Slim. I followed all the steps provided by the xbox, i customized my 8gb micro sd card, the xbox accepted it therefore i proceeded to copy my saved games data however when i popped it into my new xbox, it wanted to reformat the card. i plugged it into my laptop only to see it was corrupted however using recovery software i was able to get the xbox 360 folder from the card. within the folder i found files labeled data0000 to data0008. now ive been reading various forums for the past few days as i have to get these files back, its 4years worth of games. i am not looking to mod the saved data, just extrapolate the saved games file and put them back on my xbox. Does anyone have an idea how to do this... any help would be greatly appreciated.

The best way to transfer any information from one console to another is to use the "Xbox 360 Transfer Cable". It is a simple USB to SATA cable that you plug into your new xbox and the hard drive (respective ends). My advice would be to get one of these cables. It is an official Microsoft product, so it is a bit pricey. I thought that the new 360 came with one (? maybe).
As for extrapolating the saved games, the formatting of the USB is strictly for the xbox. There are programs out there that can extract your profile from it. As you look into the folders of D0 to D8 they should show a few files with one file being 1GB or less. You can try using a program like XTAF Explorer but I'm not sure if you have to have to files on a USB to access it.
Have you already wiped your old hard drive onto the card? Or did you only copy the information.

Unfortunately the HDD has already been wiped due to the fact that i traded in my old xbox for the new one. this means the only trace of information from that old harddrive is what i was able to recover from the sd card which is now on my laptop. i tried Xfat but i dont really get the command line interface. i tried xplorer which showed me a partition however when i extract from it, the folder that is created it empty. i know from reading forums people have been able to pull profile information from the D files using hex readers so i wondering i can not do the same. How about winhex, do you think that will work and if so what information should i be looking for. Again thanks for any help.

You probably can use a hex editor to take out the information, then create a new file and copy the information. I'm not sure what you need to copy from the files.

I have xfat gui and a the hex editor winhex however in winhex i dont know what im supposed to be looking for and if i do find it, how do i turn it into a file the xbox will recognise.
my question is when you extract a profile save, how do you know its the profile data, what in the data string identifies the file??

Sorry for the confusion, i now realise that the information i see on my computer might be different from others. Let me begin again but to the main point.... The files that were copied from my xbox are now on my laptop and i think they got corrupted somehow therefore the information im looking for is not clearly identifiable, so i was asking if there is an ID to look for that would distinguish saved game data from saved profile data.

Edit: You could try to use Modio to extract the saved game information. To do this you will need to extract your profile from the data files.

well i have been able to recover the files and i have copied them back onto the memory card. the xbox recognises the memory as a memory unit and i can transfer data to it. the xbox recognises that the memory unit has data on it but i cant access it for and if i try to transfer data from it, it shows that there is 140mb of data to transfer but again the xbox fails to recognise the data. i have tried using modio, it recognises the memcard but not the files on it. i also tried USB Xtaf xplorer .006, it allows me to see the content directories and also to extract certain files but not the saved data files i need. its also limited to how much data it can read and usually crashes when i search deep into a directory. i have also tried to use winhex but thats too confusing. Release_Xtaf_Usb_0.011, trying this but cant get to grips with the command line inputs. i know abit of i command line but the command input instructions are abit weird. im beginning to think that my directory to regain my saved games is corrupt beyond repair. is there any software that anyone can suggest for me to use that i havent tried yet, if not i going to give up and start from scratch. thanks for any help.

Hey Dread,
Sorry I can't recommend any other programs. I'm fresh out of ideas. Yes I know that starting games from scratch again is annoying (and yes it has happened to me several times, but that's cause I was doing something stupid).
Sorry mate.
